We treat a number of different musculoskeletal issues and provide preventative care. Below are a few examples of what we address. We specialise in identifying and treating simple as well as complex conditions. If your problem is not listed below, we would be happy to see you at our clinic and provide an assessment.
Muscle and tendon injuries
Muscle strain, muscle pull, or even a muscle tear refers to damage to a muscle or its attaching tendons. You can put unnecessary pressure on muscles during the course of normal daily activities, with sudden heavy lifting, during sports, or while performing work tasks.

Muscle damage can be in the form of tearing (part or all) of the muscle fibers and the tendons attached to the muscle. The tearing of the muscle can also damage small blood vessels, causing local bleeding, or bruising, and pain caused by irritation of the nerve endings in the area.

Arthritis and Osteoporosis
Arthritis is a general term for conditions that affect the joints and surrounding tissues. Joints are places in the body where bones come together, such as the knees, wrists, fingers, toes, and hips. The two most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones become less dense and more likely to fracture. In osteoporosis, there is a loss of bone tissue that leaves bones less dense and more likely to fracture. It can result in a loss of height, severe back pain, and change in one’s posture. Osteoporosis can impair a person’s ability to walk and can cause prolonged or permanent disability.

Balance & Fall Prevention
Falls become more common as we get older and are directly related to how fit we are. There is good evidence that shows that people who keep flexible and strong through activity and sport are less at risk of falling. Carpal Tunnel/Double Crush Syndrome
A painful disorder of the hand caused by pressure on your median nerve as it runs through the carpal tunnel of the wrist. Symptoms include numbness, pins and needles, and pain (particularly at night). Anything that causes swelling inside the wrist can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, including repetitive hand movements, pregnancy and arthritis.
Ergonomic Education and Guidance
Advice involving all aspects of work, which recognises the importance that positioning advice and awareness factors can play in helping avoid acci-dents and ill-health at work.
Gait/Running Assessments
Gait/running analysis is essentially the assessment of your locomotive pat-terns. It only takes a small injury resulting in mild pain, stiffness or weakness to affect the way you walk or run.

Poor walking or running gait is not only inefficient, it can also cause com-pensatory injuries at, above or below the injury level. For example, an injured knee that affects your gait can cause foot, hip or back pain.

A normal walking pattern is even more important when you start to run, which increases any abnormal stress forces into your joints and muscles. Poor habits may become long-term, which can predispose you to other injuries or arthritis.

Headaches and Migraines
Pain that is felt in the head or face that is referred from structures in the neck is called a Cervicogenic headache. The nerves from joints and soft tissues of the neck link directly with the part of the brain associated with headaches.
Low back (lumbar) injuries/pain
Pain can be related to different types of pain which come from muscles, bones, vertebral joints other than the intervertebral disc or other structures in the spine. A degenerated intervertebral disk can release nociceptive molecules and growth factors which result in nerve ingrowth into the disc.

Discogenic pain is pain arising from stimulation of pain sensitive afferents within the annulus fibrosus and is a separate condition from disc herniation with associated radiculopathy.

Lower extremity injuries/pain
Leg pain or injury is an extremely common complaint, and there are many causes. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your leg pain or injury so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the cause. An accurate diagnosis is vital to the correct management of your leg pain. Leg pain can be caused by local muscle, tendon or joint injury. Alternatively, leg pain can be referred from your lower back joints. Sciatica is a well known source of referred leg pain.
Pre and Post-orthopaedic surgery
Surgery is generally the final step in any problem and is only undertaken when more conservative measures such as physiotherapy have failed to produce the desired or optimal result.

In most cases, Orthopaedic Surgeons ensure that their clients have received a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and course of treatment before other interventions or surgery are contemplated.

Post-operative Physiotherapy treatment
A major part of the successful outcome following surgical procedures is good physiotherapy treatment concentrating on:

• Restoring optimal mobility
• Strengthening weakened and disused muscles
• Compensation for any functional loss
• Restoring normal movement patterns and habits

Nerve pain – sciatica, tingling, numbness
Sciatica describes pain felt along the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back, down through the buttock, hamstrings and into the lower leg. The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body. The spinal sections it originates from include L4, L5 or S1.

Sciatica is commonly misdiagnosed, which can result is either slow or non-responsive treatment. Leg pain can have various sources. It can be a local leg injury or it may even be referred from your lower back. The main nerve that travels from your lower back to your leg is your sciatic nerve. Irritation or pinching of your sciatic nerve can cause severe leg pain known as sciatica.

Neck (cervical) injuries/pain
Neck pain or a stiff neck are extremely common can affect your life in so many different ways. Whether it be sharp neck pain, dull muscular aches, headache, or an inability to fully move your head, a sore neck can be very frustrating yet it's simple to fix in the majority of cases.

There are many causes of neck pain. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your neck pain so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the cause.

Sports Injury and Return-to-Sports Training
Sports injuries do differ to everyday injuries. Athletes normally require high level performance and demand placed upon their body, which stresses their muscles, joints and bones to the limit. We can help athletes recover from sporting injuries, and provide education and resources to prevent problems or get them back preforming.
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Management (TMJD)
Your Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is the most used joint in the body. Your TMJs (jaw joints) are involved with eating, talking, breathing and, probably most importantly, expressing our feelings and emotions. When things go wrong with your TMJ it is known as Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD).


TMJD Symptoms: You may or may not experience jaw pain or tenderness with TMJD dysfunction. The most common symptoms include:

• clicking
• popping
• grinding
• limited opening, or an inability to fully clench your jaw

TMJD sufferers are often teeth grinders or clenchers. They can also suffer headaches, ear pain dizziness and upper neck pain. Some TMJD patients report pain or inability to eat, talk or sing. Tinnitus or ear ringing can be associated with TMJ dysfunction.
